From Abby - UNITE UNITE UNITE

Hi friends :)
Currently munching a granola bowl that looks very similar to last weeks picture so I won't bore you with that again..

Also currently listening to missionary made music on the group google drive for the mission and lowkey its a bop.
#Musicdeprived.

Anyways, its currently 7:35 AM and my goal is to be done by 9:00.. If it gets sent out later than that you'll have to chastize

Last Pday we went THRIFTING! MY FAVORITE.
I got
-a sad little dog shirt that says something along the lines of "Leave me alone its my day off"
-Saints book
-New Testimant book (ONLY the new testimant its such a thin little book)
-a D&C book (So.. Only D&C) its so old that it doesn't have section 137 or 138 yet :O

Believe it or not i've played basketball TWO more timessince my joyful report of once last week..  (once with district and once for morning sports as a zone)
Character developement? Character ark? I hope you're proud Dad
was it mostly me running back and forth observing the elders pass and shoot? YES
Was I still technically apart of the game subjecting myelf to possible embarrasment? YEAH.
and when we played as a dictrict I was in Docs and a dress!
Anyways moving on from that..

Sister Dimitrov's parents came last Pday and I was able to talk to her australian parents.. I'm claiming that intraction next time I'm in Austrailia :)

Coming into the Pleasant Grove stake people told me that the members were "CRACKED" and i believed them but WOW were people right.
Right now in the Utah Orem mission theres a huge uniting with members challange.. (Leave it to President Brown to capitalize on the 18 year old boy drive to win something.) Basically each companionship is aiming for 3 members out with them every single night. Sister Orton and I made a goal of 50 for the 14 days and after the first week we have 31! (Yes I made a notes app tally what about it)
The mission wide goal is 3,500 and if we achieve it there will be a mission wide Sinco de Mayo party :))))
There's a bunch of rewards for the companionship that wins and the zone that wins but I won't bore you with the gory details.

Just a LOT of members with us this week
I haven't biked at all! (Good thing? Bad thing? *Shrugs*)

One of our FAVORITE member couple is the Loosli's, they live 3 houses up from us (Yes up we live on a hill) the first time we went out with them they spontaneously brought us to The Purple Turtle (Generic fast food) and we DIED laughing trying to take a selfie.

We were out with them a second time and we encountered this little girl and her brother playing basketball. He preceeds to STEAL the basketball from her and starts showing off his semi good basketball skills
"If I make this you have to go to girls camp" *Shoots* *Misses*
It was so good
We also had an experience with them this week where we were knocking doors in this place we'd JUST knocked with a member literally the day before..
We were visiting someone the Loosli's had on their mind and as we were walking I remembered a door that we'd knocked the day before that had NO info on it..(didn't answer yeaterday) I got the thought to knock again because why not?
This lady open's the door and when we ask how shes doing she's like "If you couldn't tell I'm crying" her husband joins the conversation and we learn that they just moved in this past month.. we caught them during a hard conversation and she said "I think Gods knocking" XD we set up a message with them and their son who's 9! We don't know if any of them are members or not but either way I'm glad we were there In the right place at the right time :)
Also Brother Loosli fixed my bikes brakes so I praise his name 🙏

Another amazing member is Sister kemp who's this BOSS fellowshipper for one of the people we're trying to teach. Everytime we see her she's like "Oh! I stopped by at Mikes and set up a time for us to come by on tuesday.. BTW he has another non member friend staying with them who said she'd love to meet you" ETC
Mike and his kids Jesse and Georgia love her because she loves them :) AH I can't rant about it enough. They haven't commited to an actual lesson but the love is what counts.
like the primary song says
"By this shall man know ye are my disciples, if we have love one to another"

We shared a message with this AWESOME family, they let us in for the message and lead us to their HUGE back yard, right in the middle is Sister Aranda sitting criss cross and bare foot, the sun is slanting across her casting long shadows and all around her are baby CHICKS.
We sat criss cross with her on the lawn and held baby chickens as we talked all things liturature, raising chickens, musicals, and Jesus Christ.

At the end of the message Sister Aranda gave Sister Orton and I little PLANTS (I actually think mine is a succulant?) I named mine Barabbas (The murderer who was chosen to live instead of Jesus Christ on the day of his Crusifixion) Its horrible because the name started as a joke but then it def stuck :D

Barabbas ^

Thursday morning we did Service with Sister Dimitrov and Haught! We got stuff in boxes and bags/ did dished/cleaned while this mom told us about her life
Girl met her Tongan husband online, dated him for a year ONLINE. Was married ON ZOOM (Covid) and they were legally married for another YEAR before meeting eachother, and then finally met, got sealed in the temple a week later, came to Utah but NOW are moving to New Zealand to adopt his sisters child that she doesnt want !? I'll be honest I wasn't 1000% sure what was happening but it was interesting :D

I was able to take a Book Of Mormon come follow me so that I could tear it up to create ANOTHER JESUS WALL.
Its a process but it's keeping me sane :)

That same day was SUPERDAY!!!
President brown has this ennate talent. The moment he's speaking and making a point EVERY person in the room is zeroed in and drinking up every bit of knowledge.
He focused on Integrity by sharing the Story of Hugh Thomson Jr. who was a preventative factor during the My Lai Massacre during the vietnam war in 1968. Hugh Thomson Jr stood up against other American soldiers because he believed what they were doing was morally wrong. Technically he commited treason to stay true to his moral compass.
Of course the question must then be asked
"Is there an integrity componant in everything I'M doing?"
We talked about how being integrous starts with the little things. President asked
"Why are you here 80,000 deep, black tag on, if it doesn't matter?"
Ever grateful for a mission president who truly cares.

President Brown gave Sister Orton and I permission to call Sister Heaton for lesson inspiration (She's REALLY good at teaching kids) and it was SO good to catch up with her and brainstorm with her. Its SO funny that she trained both of us so we both have lots of memories with that girl.
She's stressed out of her mind being home XD
Sister Heaton Quote:
"Guys I need a companion and I can't get an eternal companion fast enough"
Love that lady

We're teaching Kory (Older guy in his 50s) Who has two kids Sorren and Sullivan (10 and 7) and their friend Raya who comes (almost 11)
We had a lesson with them yesterday and we REALLY wanted to find fellowshippers for his lesson sunday evening.
Post relief society last sunday meeting of the day we're chatting with Sister Brinkerhoff for a COMPLETELY unrelated reason (Helping her bring one of her less active friends to church) when I get the thought to ask her if she knows Kory Huntsaker.. When I ask she didn't know but we still invited her to come join us for the lesson with her husband (Who's name is also Kory XD) She agreed which was awesome! an hour or two later she texts us and tells us her and her husband discovered that they're Kory's Ministering couple :O
Its a small thing but It feels SO good to be lead by the spirit. It's the only way to do missionary work :)

We shared a message with this lady whos house smelled STRONGLY of Urine, and when I say strongly I mean staggered breathing and tryinyg not to tear up.. As we're sharing the message this huge bug FALLS from her vent and starts crawling toward me :D The lady grabs it, crushes it in her hands and throws it behind her onto the floor!? She brushes it off saying that We were flabberhasted. It was a criminal interaction but there must needs be an opposition :)

Okay it's 9:00 right now! I'll be editing on the way to Walmart :)

back... 11:13 currently
This most recent sunday we were walking to Relief Society when this member invites us into primary.. she says "Sisters!! Join our primary class!" So we did :)
My favorite part is when she gave each little kid a palm leaf and we sang "Hossanna! Blessed be the name of the most high God!" I watched little hands clutch the palm leaves and wave them as they sang with little voices praise.
I love easter week, and Palm sunday :)

Matthew 11:
8 And many spread their garments in the way: and others cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way.
9 And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord:
10 Blessed be the kingdom of our father David, that cometh in the name of the Lord: Hosanna in the highest

I hope that I will be as joyful to welcome Jesus, filled with gratitude for what he has done for me and shouting praises of Hossana :)
(Which means: Please save us)

a member shared with us something her daughter has been saying on her mission
"Win the morning, win the day, earn the pillow"

Or as my Mom says "keep on keeping on"
or "Carpe Diem"
or "Onward and Upward"
or my personal favorite
"Fortitude Vincimus"

And with that I end my email at 5:22 PM (This is always how it goes)

How wonderful it is to believe in something that is so much higher than myself.
and to be apart of Miracles :)

Excuse typos!!

ALBUM

From Dad - Spring is here

Dear Abby,

I can't tell you how nice it is to have spring weather again. With the driveway drying up and the days getting longer, it is definitely the awakening time if year. Driving to Hinton yesterday and having clear roads, clear skies and with the sun up at 6 am and down by 8 pm, I was able to just enjoy the views and not fear for my life!

It's been fun to see so many members of our family close out a school year. Mia finished this week and came home for the summer. We have enjoyed hearing about her boy encounters and drame. Ben called to share his relief on finishing his exams, Sam finishes up this week, Mom submitted her final essay and has her final open book exam to finish this week and Josh is finishing up his Pathways class. Look at all this learning going on. Maybe I need to jump in and take a class or something!

This last Monday we closed out the sale of the Leduc house. Both relief mixed with a little bit of nostalgia for that stage of our lives. Grateful for the financial blessing it became for us, even though we only meant to live there for 2 years, it became an 18 year journey!

On Saturday I spent a few hours in Leduc looking at SUV vehicles. With the green car starting to die randomly once and a while (it always starts back up again after a quick shutdown), its time to get something more reliable. I'm really liking the Hyundai Palisade. It's another seven seater but with some cool features.Only problem with the one I test drove was that it was white! Mom's bane color.

I drove Mom and Mia to the airport this morning to send them to St George. Mom is spending 7 days there then going down to Texas to visit Tonia Rice. Mia's staying at Steph and Tyler's for 10 days. It's still so miraculous to me that they left this morning and were sending me pictures from St. George in the afternoon. Isn't that little girl so cute!

We really enjoyed having Nickei (pretty sure I don't know how to spell her name right) out for supper. She and Mom spent time in the woods chainsawing the ever expanding walking path. I ran into Edmonton to pick up Mia after her last exam and we got back in time to have Japchae supper with Nickei and Mom. She had lots of questions about our marriage and expressed that we were the only people she knew who were still together with the same partner after so long. She's never had a model of what a lasting relationship looks like. She is very curious and wants to understand the principles so she can have the same in her life. As I'm sure you're aware, she really loves her boyfriend and wants to make it work.I'm so grateful we've made it work for 33 years. To Eternity and beyond! She also expressed how grateful she was to you and stated that she never knew what it was or how to be joyful in life until she met you. High praise and I agree that you give off rays of joy. The people of Orem are lucky to have you.

As we head into Easter week, I'm really going to try and be intentional about remembering the life of the Savior and how amazing it is that he overcame death and sin for us. What a blessing to us that he volunteered to be the one to sacrifice for all of us. What a blessing to be aware of it and be able to have hope beyond the grave and to be able to relieve the burden of our sins and hurts through him. How amazing and fitting it was that he showed himself to faithful women first after his resurrection. I'm grateful for your faithfulness and pray the Lord blesses you this week, my daughter.

Love,

Dad.
