From Abby - "This Book is Alive"

The vibes of this week

Ether 5:4
Look up the scripture! It'll make sense

Hi all beautiful humans and welcome to the second email of this P-day

I come to you after having a somewhat unpleasant bad dream about Sister Williams Sr. getting emergency transferred away so maybe that tells you how I feel about the companionship

Lets get into this past week
Sister Williams Jr First P-day in the field!!
We went to a winter sale at the mission office and I claimed like 5 coats to trial run, gave Senior Sister Ellis a BIG fat hug

Our district got together to concoct elaborate Pizza's of every variety. Even including Elder Drysdales sardine pizza which was choked down by a few of us.. It was so fun to be in the kitchen all together as a Sistrict (and Elder Drysdale and Pavlou) flour, and pizza sauce, and pepperoni flying everywhere. Elder Drysdale pushed two tables together so that we could all sit around and enjoy as if we were a big happy family

At the end we all were cleaning in the Kitchen and someone brought up some deep question about something which CATAPULTED us into the most intense conversation about the most intense questions. All light hearted and all entirely requiring one who can push their brain into a mode of deeper thinking.
It ended in each of us rejoicing in the complexities of our religion, and filled with gratitude they we're able to be part of it as representatives of Jesus Christ (Topics like signs of the second coming, The nature of God, Theories of eternal progression, if we will have our own worlds, the faith of Joseph Smith, the money and vaults of the church, the upper rooms of the temple/the room only for the prophet, the second anointing) ETC.

Full MLC this week. Its so fun that Sister Christiansen and Lord have a little greenie so we can drop them off together and we can go to MLC :)

They stopped by our house early Tuesday morning and we said "See you in THREE hours" to our trainee's
LOOK what Sister Lord painted me!? GIRL

3rd Nephi 17 fr

After we met as a group we had a break out session with all of the STLS (Dimitrov, Bowser, Christiansen, Lord, Peterson, Postman, Manley, Hall, Barnette, Moala, Downs, Messias, Williams sr, and Me) and it was SO good to talk about the needs of our Sisters, How our past STLS have influenced us
tell me why I started crying when I talked about Madi Ellis. Love you Madi :)

Other thoughts I loved

"We should be the group who are CHAMPIONS of change"
"Everybody can rise up."
"Love is bold." -Sister Williams

When we got back we found braindead Sister Campbell and Sister Williams Jr I jokingly say "If you know all of D&C 4 I will LITERALLY give you money. What do they proceed to do? RECITE ALL of D&C 4, the first vision and their purpose?? CRAY. I'm down $2

Tuesday night we dropped off Sister Williams Sr to help out with a sick sister in the mission (Trio power.. So that both companionships can get work done) So Sister Williams Jr. and I were on our own!!

We visited with this one returning member guy.. Since there was only two of us we had to meet outside in this sketchy picnic table covering area that had NO lights. We all took our phones out, turned on the flashlight, and placed them facedown so that the lighting was lowkey spooky story vibes. We had knocked his door Monday night to set up for today and he told us that the FIRST time he felt the spirit tell him to do something was when we knocked yesterday and that he felt strongly that he should get the door. CRAZY. We also bonded over D&D

Then we went to a chapel and accidentally crashed an EQP RSP game night! Chatted with SOO many people and then as we were walking out we were stopped by this returning member named Chris who wanted to discuss the Atonement? So Epic.

Williams Jr is So cute. Youngest Favoritism fr

SIX PAD

There are certain nights where we'll all happen to be in the kitchen, or living room and we'll tell each other about ALL the miracles we saw that day, Predictions and plans for the future, opinions on niche movies, baby names, the Gospel ETC. I love the six pad so much.

We had greenie picture taking and orientation this week which is basically just alll the trainers hanging out since all the greenies are locked in learning about how money, housing, vehicles, and conduct works on the mission.

Sister Williams had to get a FULL heart monitor thrown on her to check what's going on with the heart sitch so... Many PG family Medical doctors runs to go :) She's a trooper

Got to bear powerful testimony to the YW of this RANDOM ward outside of our area on accident.. Who knows, maybe one of them needed us. It is SO FUN to talk about my mission experience with young women who COULD serve. Now that I've been out for 13 months I can actually pull from real life experiences. Guys I feel like a veteran

Sister Williams Jr. had her prez interview this week and took the SHORTEST amount of time. She's so low stress its awesome. Elder Temple did roleplays with Sister Williams and I while we waited and we were all dying laughing. So good.

We had a lifechanging lesson with this ELECT person named Leah. The Spanish Elders met her and we did a pass off with them.
We start chatting about the church and her experience with it and she's like "I know the Book of Mormon is true." GIRL. As we continued to talk I had the scripture Alma 7:15 about baptism

I handed her the book of Mormon and she reads "Come and fear not" and then she pauses and starts CRYING. We all sit in sacred silence until she finished reading, Sister Williams asked her what she was feeling and she looks at us with tears in her eyes and says "This book is alive." CHILLS. The spirit was there in her home.. After a moment our greenie INVITED her to be baptized? So proud.

She said she would work towards it but she feels nervous to fill Christ's shoes to which I say valid
Bless working with the Spanish elders fr

Had a powerful super day this week.

Prez broke down the top three things that struggling missionaries have a pattern with in their missionary work
1) Misunderstanding the power of the little things, ignoring the small and simple standards and practices, justifying too much
2)Lacking Faith - where they can't find hope and excitement through Christ because they don't actually believe he can help them and provide miracles

3)Lacking Boldness - you can have all the faith and be perfect at all the little standards but if you're not bold enough you can't actually effect other people!

He said to choose one of the three and ATTACK it

Had wing stop for the first time

Got to see MADI because she drove us around for the first part of the night

Had some LEGENDARY jungle exchanges with Sister Butterfield where I got to be BACK on my BIKE!! My pink princess OH how I love her. Sister Butterfield and I had our life changed by a wonderful member who basically told us with her whole soul that she was proud of us. Crying.

Can I put my Journal Entry for Friday Nov 7th here?

"Good morning. Another beautiful day as a representative of Jesus Christ. Oh how I love this sweet life giving gospel. I hope to grow in my admiration for it until I surrender all of my wordily desires and favorite sins to him. He overcame the world so that nothing in the world can overcome me!"

Housing coordinators crashed the apartment this week. They walk in with a space heater and some hangers and I say "Phew! I thought you were here for surprise inspections." their response? "We are" BRUH. They walk in and Sister Williams is like "Look at our whiteboard!" (Cleaning chart)
Guys. Elder Morris was SO impressed that we dodged cleaning inspections!?!? Sister Morris swept out our whole garage, and drain snaked our bathroom while Elder Morris took our old coats and our mini fridge XD
We love our housing coordinators. SO MUCH.

It was Sister Moleni's birthday on Nov 7th. In one of our member messages that night they had balloons and cheese cake from a party that they gave us!! We were able to walk in from pros and throw all the balloons on her, I love Sister Moleni ahh my middle step daughter:)

We had another six pad night in the living room. I love the six pad

Got a Young women's second councilor to end a meeting spontaneously to go visit someone :) SO fun.

We had miracle hour with all of our Sisters and when the trio got home Sister Hethcote and Moleni JUMPED on Sister Ortiz (They used to be a trio)

Everything is so joyous. SO joyous.

HUH ^

here's our HCOM Brother Bretey

Today I started reading the book "All things new". I'm not even 30 pages in but I LOVE THIS BOOK
Revelations 21:4-5
4 God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

here's a small quote from the book that might give you an idea of the vibe
"What was it about Christ-The person and the message-that was galvanizing, transformative, and so appealing that it led a small band of Galileans to reshape the world and lay the foundations for a church of billions? That seems to be a more fruitful direction of inquiry."
(referring to people getting caught up on the nature of God and obsessing over the trinity
So good

There's simply too much

I love you all
Make this week great
after all heroes aren't made, Heroes choose :)

Yours,
Sister Smith
